For an incredibly long time I resisted buying into beauty subscription boxes. As someone who knows exactly which cosmetics she’s interested in, I felt that beauty subscription boxes were not in keeping with the way in which I wanted to try new items. When I learned Sisley offered a beauty subscription, at first I was quite excited because it was a brand that I always gazed at without buying into it. Then, realising that subscriptions begun at 60 USD, my enthusiasm evolved into incredulity, especially since the sample sizes were not deluxe. With Christmas approaching, they introduced a limited time, three month subscription at a special price of 35 USD. Thus, I bought in. Pictured is the second box that I’ve received and it contains items as follows:
- Sisley Restorative Facial Cream
- Sisley Moisturizing Perfumed Body Cream
- Sisley Nutritive Hand Care
- Sisley Fluid Foundation Oil Free
- Sisley Confort Extreme Day Skin Care with Linden Blossom and Mallow
I’ll briefly share my thoughts on the Sisley Restorative Facial Cream along with the Sisley Confort Extreme Day Skin Care with Linden Blossom and Mallow. As a prescription tretinoin (retinol) user, Sisley Restorative Facial Cream saves my skin when the peeling is at a maximum. I’ve been using retinol since September of 2016, but if I take too much of a long break from using it, once I resume, my skin peels but not as badly as when I started. The cream has a distinctly brightening effect whilst the hydration infusion is very welcome for my dry skin.
Sisley Restorative Facial Cream cocoons the skin, plumping it and also imparting a reinvigorated appearance, especially if fatigue and insufficient sleep is a recurring theme. Formulated with shea butter and carrot, this cream can work under makeup and I’d even advocate for spot touch-ups during the day if your skin is in need of a jump start.
Shifting now to the Sisley Confort Extreme Day Skin Care with Linden Blossom and Mallow, at first application this has the faintest herbal scent, which I always enjoy. Slightly thicker in texture, this cream is intended to strengthen the epidermal barrier, repair and soothe parched skin. With a slew of humectants, very sensitive and dry skin will benefit from the healing and restorative powers of this cream. This is the cream you want when your skin has been blasted by cold temperatures, when your skin needs a proper moisture drench or when sensitive skin needs coddling.
I appreciate the intention of beauty subscription boxes. They offer a ‘buffet’ approach that can indeed be enjoyable for the subscriber and bring with it the potential for buying into a brand. On the other hand, if one prefers to simply buy items outright, a subscription box is likely not a requirement. Alas, there are times when one may need to make an exception. This was one of those times.
