Sisley-Paris Beauty Subscription Roundup

If you’re a beauty subscription box devotee or more of a spectator as I am, you’re in the right place. I appreciate the concept and also the new category it has created. In general, I find them useful as gifts when I’m stumped as to what to purchase. For myself, however, I’m usually not so keen. Then Sisley Paris changed that. Last year I stumbled upon the fact that Sisley Paris, the eye-watering expensive French skincare and makeup brand offered a subscription box.

At that moment of discovery, I became very excited because I assumed the box would at least contain deluxe size samples. Promptly I went to Sisley’s website to have a look at how their subscription worked and admittedly, I was disappointed. The box was set to contain two sample packets along with three sample tubes of product and the subscription price ranged from $60.00 for six months to $100.00 for twelve months. I clicked away from the website. Then, late last year, I saw on Instagram that Sisley Paris was promoting a limited time offer for a $35.00 subscription that would run for three months and so, I immediately took the bait. November’s Beauty Subscription contained the following:

  • Express Flower Gel
  • Instant Perfect
  • So Intense Mascara
  • Phytobuste+Decollete
  • Eau du Soir Body Cream

In retrospect, I believe this was the best box of the three because of the So Intense Mascara, Instant Perfect (a primer) and the cult favourite Express Flower Gel Mask.

December’s Beauty Subscription contained the following:

  • Confort Extreme Day
  • Restorative Facial Cream
  • Confort Extreme Nutritive Hand Care
  • Phyto-Teint Eclat #2
  • Soir de Lune Body Cream

Standouts were the Restorative Facial Cream along with Soir de Lune, a moisturising perfumed body cream with a scent that remains all day long. The Restorative Facial Cream is a rich compensating cream that works against environmental stressors. It proved to be a welcome treat because my dry skin had flaky patches from prescription retinol use and dry winter air. Formulated with shea butter and carrot, it deeply hydrated my skin and even imparted a brightening effect. It so happens the Restorative Facial Cream can be used by all persons except those under the age of three.  Moving now to Soir de Lune Moisturising Perfumed Body Cream which I completely adore. Formulated with floral, woody and musky notes, this is a thoroughly hydrating and very feminine cream. If you use this cream, you can forego regular fragrance as the scent is that pronounced. The downside is that it retails for $130.00 for 5.1 ounces so I’ll be admiring it and dreaming about it from afar. With careful application, I was able to get about five uses out of the sample packet.

Rounding out the service is the January Beauty Subscription The D-Tox. The five pieces in this box are:

  • Ecological Compound
  • All Day All Year
  • Botanical D-Tox Detoxifying Nighttime Treatment
  • Phyto-Blanc Buff and Wash
  • Eau de Soir Bath and Shower Gel

The standout in this box is the Botanical D-Tox Detoxifying Night Treatment, a product that works to combat lifestyle-related issues such as fatigue. Although I only have the sample of this product, it appears to work quickly as I see evidence that it brightens my skin, it has broken apart a few tiny spots I had on my face and it also takes care of dry patches. With this treatment, I always wake up to bright, even-toned skin without dry patches. Key ingredients include shea butter, rice extract, ginko biloba, einkorn extract, rosemary, hops extract and essential oils of lavender, rosemary, sage and marjoram. At $245.00 for 1.05 ounces, it breaks my heart that what is obviously an extraordinary product is so, so expensive. A slightly damp face is the best canvas for applying product so I’m stretching my sample out and plan to take scissors to it to dig out any remainders.

Was the Sisley Beauty Subscription worth it? I had the opportunity to get up close and personal with a brand that I have fantasised about for longer than I care to admit. Sisley-Paris counts several award-winning products in their portfolio and their makeup deserves a separate post. I’ll share that I was able to score one of their highlighting blushes in a flash sale and I fought terribly with myself over that. The subscription was worth it for the window it provided and after three months, I have a dream list containing three products that I plan to save up for unless they turn up on a flash sale and are deeply discounted. They are, in no particular order:

  • Soir de Lune Moisturising Perfumed Body Cream
  • Botanical D-Tox Detoxifying Night Treatment
  • Instant Perfect

For the cost of The Sisley Beauty Subscription and because Sisley-Paris has been in existence since 1976, I’m guessing their coffers allow them to offer at least two deluxe size samples in each box. There are younger, smaller companies doing that and in my mind, deluxe sizes may increase the chances of a user purchasing a full-size product if they really are impressed with a product’s performance. Sisley-Paris products are elegantly formulated, extraordinarily researched and from what I can tell, quite effective. Kudos to whoever thought of offering a Sisley subscription, my hope is that they increase the sizes and reintroduce the lower priced subscription option.
