Green Nail Pastures-Treat Collection

Perhaps what our mothers said is true. The state of your nails conveys messages about you, whether or not you believe it or like it. Tattered talons can never stand up to buffed, neat ones. What Mum likely never gave thought to however, are the ingredients in nail products, whether colour lacquers or nail polish removers and treatments.

Treat Collection, the Berlin and LA based brand started by Daniela Mellis, offers a formula that leaves out the five big offenders, specifically formaldehyde, toluene, formaldehyde resin, DBP (dibutyl phthalate) and camphor formaldehyde. The formula is also gluten free, vegan and cruelty-free and safe to use during pregnancy.

I encountered the brand while poking around online and was struck by one of the colours I saw in the photograph. As is commonly the next few words in many of my posts, so began the hunt. Not long after, my first bottle arrived and it was in the colour ‘Delight’. Delight was swiftly followed by Art House, The Girls and Drama Queen along with the top and base coat plus the nail polish remover.

Treat Collection Nail Polish in Delight

Delight is to me, a brick red with brown-pink undertones. Against my complexion it turns out to be very understated and is the type of colour that can work for everyday or a fancy occasion.

Treat Collection Art House

Art House is a deep burgundy and is perfect for a night out.

Treat Collection Drama Queen

Drama Queen is a proper oxblood and extraordinarily similar to Art House, but Drama Queen is much deeper.

Treat Collection The Girls

The Girls is a muted purple and the only shade that I’m not totally bowled over by. On my complexion, the translation is not quite as I’d hoped so it’s up for grabs. No matter though, I have other shades on my radar such as Black Tie, The Other One and Must Have.

How long before it chips:

Five to six days with base coat and top coat. If you type extensively on your desktop and telephone and if you do housework without gloves, you may need to minus one day.

About that Remover:

Treat Collection Gentle Nail Polish Remover is a soy based, acetone free formula which includes vitamins A, C and E along with pure argan oil. At 236 ml of product compared to many other larger options, this happily has very little odour and will never assault your nostrils and surroundings with harsh fumes.

Also, this remover is thicker than typical removers, yet does a brilliant job of thoroughly removing lacquers. A little does quite a bit of work and you use less product per use in contrast to typical removers.

Your nails will never feel stripped or parched from using this remover and it also does not leave white residue around your nails.

For added assurance, Treat Collection abides by the strict formulation rules laid out by the EU.

Treat Collection Top and Base Coat

Lastly, the Top and Base Coat is a two in one product that does a solid job of preparing your nails for colour and adding that last step in upping the high gloss factor. If you’re not into the matte nails look, I’m with you on that, so this is a glossy girl ally.

Treat Collection now boasts about sixty-six colour lacquers along with nail treatments, hand and foot care plus lip colours that include lipsticks and lip glosses. A quick search online will yield purchase options but be forewarned, the Gentle Nail Polish Remover is usually sold out.

Daniela Mellis created Treat Collection after suffering two miscarriages which led her to investigate the possible causes. She embarked on transitioning the products she used on herself and in her home and also found a gap in options for non-toxic, glamorous colour cosmetics including nail lacquers. It’s a common impetus for many of the green beauty brands that now populate the beauty landscape. Green Beauty is here to stay.
