Tom Ford Bronze Age Summer Soleil 2017

The illustrious Tom Ford, his designs for Gucci many years ago followed by his own clothing and accessories designs were all a prelude to the surprise that was his makeup and fragrance line. Needless to say, with the introduction of Tom Ford Beauty, the industry has not been the same since. I recall my first Tom Ford lipstick, given to me as a present by a friend. That was followed by subsequent purchases that I still treasure and use, such as Tom Ford Lip Color Sheer in Firecracker, and my favourite from the first Lips and Boys Series, the lip colour in Liam.

Each year, the beauty mafia awaits his spring and summer makeup collections, to see how else he has plotted to dazzle us. Thus, as part of this year’s Tom Ford 2017 Summer Soleil collection, he has reincarnated an existing bronzer to bring us The Ultimate Bronzer, with a new and cutting edge formula. This formula is the power coupling of liquid and powder in one compact to the tune of $110 USD. Nestled in a stunning white compact with a perimeter of gold, this is the compact you pull out while you’re frolicking in Tulum, Mexico or if you’re on a super yacht cruising along the glimmering shores of Cap D’antibes, France.

This innovative product may very well end your bronzer search forever, as it is huge and I just don’t know if it’s possible to finish it. Thankfully, there’s no real scent to this bronzer. At first use I was annoyed, because I was expecting the instant colour payoff one expects with typical bronzers. Then I kept swatching it on the inside of my hands to see what it did on the skin, to watch for formula shortcuts such as mica overload, to wait for it to become spotty, sparkly or muddy as opposed to an even swath of pigment. Happily, that never happened.

Tom Ford Ultimate Bronzer in Bronze Age is silky and gleaming on the skin without being overtly bronze, orange or red. This is bronzer for those seeking extra magic in a pan for the face. Mature skins would also adore this bronzer because of its formula and payoff. Another plus is that if you work in a conservative environment, it can easily be worn without looking obvious.

For deeper skin tones such as my own, at first it may appear as though the bronzer is not showing up. However, like a foundation this needs a little time to really ‘bloom’ on the skin and once it does, it emerges brilliantly. You may wear this bronzer with a swipe of something on the lips and nothing else for a casual, yet polished look. I even tapped a bit on my eyelids and found that this is perfect if you want to wake up the eyes without eye shadow and eyeliner. Tom Ford The Ultimate Bronzer to me, has the potential to replace any other bronzers in your collection. Especially if you seek to be pulled together without looking like you did a lot.

Lasting power is unrivaled and it was still evident on my face after about nine hours of wear. Streak free and without skidding on the skin, this bronzer does not go on to turn into something unwanted and patchy. To apply, I alternate between a small bronzing brush to using the Chikuhodo GSN-02 brush which is medium in size.

In terms of value, this is 15 grams of product, whereas Tom Ford’s regular blushers are 8 grams. With each application, you’ll not be using much product because of how easily it applies and how well it works. I like to think my bronzer collection consists of power performers, yet when I swatched Bronze Age next to other items in my collection, it stands out plain and simple. Thus, the take away is that Tom Ford’s Ultimate Bronzer in Bronze Age, is for the person who is willing to invest in a make up item that is a top performer, makes the user look bright, glowy and enlivened without having to resort to heavy application. Applied on the face, on the eyelids or along the jaw line, this is your personal lighting director in a pan. If you have this version of Bronze Age or the earlier ones, let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
