Mintd Box beauty subscription snuck up on me in a way. After seeing it on Instagram via a handful of accounts as opposed to every other account, I had to investigate. While you may have a case of beauty subscription box fatigue or feel they’re not worth the commitment, stay with me because this one stands apart from the crowd. In case you missed it, I’d written about my previous foray into subscription boxes here. Otherwise, Mintd Box has me quite excited and while I’m still testing the items so that I can offer full reviews in the future, I figured I’d walk you through the contents and offer up some first impressions on what I’ve begun using.
Show Beauty Body Shimmer Oil
Show Beauty is one of the glitziest brands I’ve seen in a while. Founded by Tamara Ecclestone, Show Beauty offers haircare, full-service hair salons and this dry body shimmer oil. With a seductive, intoxicating blend of white musk, patchouli and vanilla, the result is a heightened sensory experience. Blended with jojoba and argan oils, along with aloe vera and vitamin E in the mix, this shimmer oil is summer-ready and begging to be displayed on bare shoulders and your décolleté. There are bits of shimmer that I suspect is more apparent on my skin tone, but I’m willing to overlook that because it’s fast-absorbing and is unlikely to make me feel like a living, walking oil slick when temperatures increase.
Tom Daxon Vachetta Shower Gel
I’d guess that shower gels rarely get a rise out of you and it’s the same for me. But then there’s shower gel from Tom Daxon, the young perfumer who turns to Grasse, the fragrance material nerve centre in France for his raw ingredients. Daxon comes from fragrance pedigree, as his mother spent three decades as the Creative Director for the eponymous brand Molton Brown.
Daxon’s Vachetta shower gel comes in a generous 8.5-ounce bottle. With a luminous scent that includes jasmine, musk, leather, coriander, cardamom, nutmeg and my favourite tea, lapsang souchong, this is easily a standout from any other high-end shower gel I’ve had the pleasure of using. It fills the bathroom, calms the senses, brings one back from tension and stress via the passive aromatherapy that happens by using a fragrant bath product in a steamy shower. Tom Daxon’s product portfolio also includes fragrance, body lotion and candles that I strongly suspect are in my future.
Tula Multi-Spectrum Eye Renewal Serum
The brand Tula is a new one to me. Co-founded by the resplendent Dr. Roshini Raj, a gastroenterologist and media darling whose expertise has netted her a slew of television and print credits, along with core consulting roles on shows such as Dr. Oz and the Today Show in New York, Dr. Raj’s reason behind her brand is an increasingly familiar one. Her intention is to help women look and feel their best via effective skin care as a starting point.
This eye-renewal serum stole my heart from the first time I used it because of its design, texture and comfort. Packaged inside an almost tiffany-blue cylinder with a press mechanism and metal dispenser at the top, this is travel-friendly and eye-catching. The texture is light, fast-absorbing and cooling. Plus it works under eye-lid primer and eye makeup. I’d rate this especially highly for warmer temperatures because the metal tip makes application easy and helps to soothe the eye contour and blur lines.
Skin Laundry Advanced Protection Daily Moisturiser SPF 35
It’s time to ditch the excuses for not using SPF daily with Skin Laundry’s daily moisturiser with SPF. Boasting a fast-absorbing texture that does not leave a film or residue on the skin, this is a shoe-in for your next trip or for days outdoors. On my skin tone, it dries completely without leaving a grey or bluish haze behind. Online reviews also rate this moisturiser for working well under makeup, while some reviewers with oily skin types have not felt that it totally worked for them. Despite that, first impressions on my dry skin make me feel this moisturiser can stand in as a primer or alone if you’re not totally keen on makeup.
Patchology Poshpeel Pedi Cure
I am really looking forward to using Patchology’s Poshpeel because I hold tight to any product that helps me avoid the salon. Patchology has a slew of innovative products that include effective hydrating lip gels that make lip products go on and stay on so much better, a result I can personally attest to. So I’m not expecting anything less from these foot masque socks and activating essence. The socks are meant to be worn from an hour or up to an hour and a half and will initiate peeling of dead skin over three to seven days. While that may not sound pleasant, I’d wager that anybody would benefit from such a hard-working product especially if you’re gearing up for sandal season.
Lauren B Beauty Nail Growth Serum
This feels incredibly hydrating when I apply it to my nail contour and I adore the scent. We’re seeing more and more nail serums but so many of them simply don’t deliver. Lauren B Beauty’s Nail Growth Serum is a ‘couture’ product that’s formulated with hard-working ingredients such as vitamin C, E and biotin. These ingredients are meant to strengthen and stimulate nail growth whether used on bare nails or prior to applying nail lacquer. Rather than making this product into a heavy cream, this serum boasts a light-weight, hydrating texture that also happens to be transparent.
Now that I’ve guided you through the summer edition Mintd Box contents, it’s easy to pick up on the value this box offers. To me, there’s no indication the products were selected as fillers or after-thoughts. It feels exceptionally curated, the items are luxurious and make sense for an active lifestyle where hardworking grooming products are needed. Plus, so many of the items happen to be travel-friendly or generally portable. Mintd Box offers several subscription options and although it’s a British based company, they ship globally. Let me know when was the last time you tried a beauty subscription and if you haven’t, why not?
