No, you don’t have to buy new makeup all the time but I do have to let you in on the makeup I’m in love with ATM (at the moment). Mind you, many of these items aren’t new on the scene, such as Tom Ford’s Shade and Illuminate palette which has been around since at least 2016, but I’ve only gotten my hands on now. I do have two new-to-market foundations that I’m in love with, though I’ve already done a full review for one of them [here].

Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate in Intensity 02 is a contour palette that takes the ‘scaries’ out of contouring. The Shade and Illuminate pigments are so refined that the finish is unlikely to ever make you look like you were playing in your childhood paint pots. Despite how deep the ‘shade‘ (deeper) colour looks in the pan, once it’s on the skin it diffuses out beautifully to leave a softly sculpted look. Certainly, you have full control over how defined you want your look to be as the pigments are buildable, making it novice-friendly as well.

The ‘illuminate’ (lighter) shade is also expertly produced, despite how white it appears. On my deeper skin tone, this doesn’t leave a greyish cast. It offers a softly illuminated, brightened finish that almost appears ‘candlelit’ when it catches the light. This palette comes in two shade variations (there’s a lighter palette) and is a great investment that sets it apart from so many other contour/highlight products especially if you have mature skin or a drier skin type. Also, it lasts the day on the skin without breaking apart and leaving nothing but glitter in its wake. That’s a major win.

Above are the two new-to-market foundations that I’m really enjoying and have fallen in love with. Chanel Ultra Le Teint Ultrawear All-Day Comfort Flawless Finish Foundation comes in 30 shades and one of those should be in your stash if you’re looking for all-day coverage that’s lightweight. My skin never feels like it’s a hostage when I wear this foundation, plus I wore it to an event that spanned more than ten hours and it held up impressively the entire time. Initially, I chose the next shade up from this in BD 101 but exchanged it for my current shade which is BD 91, as it contains a bit more yellow. I’ll have a full review of this foundation shortly so do stay tuned.

Guerlain’s L’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation features 30 shades with the potential to last up to 16 hours. I’ve done a full review of this foundation which you can see [here] and I have to say, I’m just as in love with it as I am with Chanel’s. I’m in my 40’s with dry skin and Guerlain’s foundation offers dewiness, luminosity, is long-wearing and blurs imperfections. So I would rate it highly for more mature skin types or those with dry or dehydrated skin, plus it’s possible to wear a tiny bit and still achieve a pulled-together look.

By Terry and Givenchy have nailed the category with the two pencils above that are user-friendly and hard to mess up when applied. Firstly, Givenchy’s Tw0-Tone Eyeshadow and Liner in 02 Mystic Gold is a pencil I’m so happy to have, especially for the coppery gold side. I love wearing it in my waterline and while it does smudge a bit after a while and leaves some stray sparkles, I still love it for the brightening effect and because it lasts.

It was only after getting By Terry Stylo Blackstar 3 in 1 Eyeshadow Stick in Tasty Truffle that I understood the cult-following it has gained over the years. If you like a liner you can scribble on and tap in with a clean finger, there are several shades of this pencil to choose from. Tasty Truffle is perfect for everyday wear featuring a metallic mushroomy-purple that also looks lovely on the lower lash line and pulls your eyes together quickly when used alone. Plus, it stays put without migrating and glides on smoothly.

Le Metier De Beaute Cream Eyeshadow Base in Ombré

I think everyone needs an eyeshadow base that does double duty as an eyeshadow shade as well. Admittedly, I bought this on a whim out of curiosity as it was deeply discounted. I love how this illuminates my eyes and the fact that I can tap it in with a finger. But it loses points because it creases and fades after a while, yet it still comes in handy.

Chanel Ombre Première Cream Eyeshadow in Silver Pink is a long-wearing formula that reminds you why some makeup is so easy to fall in love with. Featuring a refined, buildable texture that wakes up your eyes without being over the top, you should consider this if you’re in search of products that you can count on to deliver high performance with each wear.makeup i'm in love with

While it looks coppery in the glass pot, on the skin it veers in many directions to show off hints of pink, purple and silver and leaves a pearly finish on the lid. Naturally, this can also be used as a liner to open up the eyes or layered with other eyeshadows.

Wrapping up with heavy swatches of everything, each of these products are solid choices for creating a nicely edited makeup collection. Added to that, the creamy textures present a slew of possibilities for mixing and matching and creating your own hacks. Don’t forget to look out for my dedicated post on Chanel’s Ultra Le Teint Ultrawear All Day Comfort Flawless Finish Foundation. And do feel free to share this post, otherwise, I hope this helps.
