Emile Cordon Miracle Lip Balm Review: A Lip Love Affair

If a cure for dry lips is something you’re constantly chasing, this post may hold the key. Since 2016 or thereabouts, the brand has shaken up the lip care category after launching Emile Cordon Miracle Lip Balm, essentially the most luxurious lip balms I’ve ever seen. While some of the big-name luxury skincare brands include lip care in their collections, Emile Cordon stands apart for a number of reasons which you’ll see below.

A quick click onto Emile Cordon’s website immediately makes you realise that these lip care products are special. The brand’s founders tapped a New York-based perfumer to come up with the warm-based, luxe scent you’ll experience with each pot.

Emile Cordon currently offers two categories of lip care, Cashmere For Lips and Miracle For Lips. Cashmere for Lips soothes, nourishes and plumps while Miracle for Lips nourishes, softens and even has anti-ageing properties.

I’ll be focusing on the Miracle For Lips category and I have four pots to share:

St. Barts Soleil, Manhattan Flair, Chic Chic Boom and Madison Queen.

St. Barts Soleil looks clear on my lips and opens with fragrant but not overpowering notes of coconut and vanilla. The scent is luxe and balanced but more importantly, how it feels on my lips is exactly the type of feeling I’ve always wanted.

It applies easily and stays on impressively even after eating or drinking. A big plus is that it also wears exceedingly well under lipstick. Just apply a very thin amount before your lipstick then get ready to experience your loved lip colours in an entirely new way. On Instagram, I even posted that it made MAC’s Ruby Woo Lipstick feel a thousand times more comfortable on my dry lips.

On a daily basis, St. Barts Soleil is my most used pot because it keeps my dry lips feeling soothed and comfortable, plus applying a couple of extra layers at night makes the perfect overnight lip mask. In the morning I wake up to lips free from peeling and flakiness plus the hydrated feeling remains.

Manhattan Flair opens with subtle notes of peony blossom and rose bouquet. In the pot, it appears light pink but in actuality, it translates clear on my lips.

Layer this over your lipstick or lip gloss for added dimension and major comfort.

Chic Chic Boom has a deep rose-tone and it’s one of the two shades that show up on my lips. I can wear this as a gloss while having the benefit and comfort of hydrated, pillowy looking lips.

And if I wear it with a lip pencil, I’m #golden.

Madison Queen has stolen my heart for a number of reasons. It’s the most flattering shade on my skin tone, plus it lasts through eating and drinking, (including hot beverages) in that it fades a tiny bit but the pigment remains.

Madison Queen behaves very similarly to a lip gloss because of the colour pay-off and because of how well it hugs the lips. It can be layered with other lipsticks or glosses and can be worn as a wash of colour on the cheeks. I’m giving it even extra marks because it shows up on my cheeks to provide a gel-like swath of colour that is perfect for a low-key, casual look.

All of the Miracle For Lips are classified as 2-in-1 lip and cheek colours and also helps to fill in fine lines on the lips. Also, Chic Chic Boom and Madison Queen have scent notes of rose champagne and strawberry leaves, aspects that I’m loving hard.

All of Emile Cordon’s Miracle Lip Balms come in transparent plastic pots while graphics and lettering is reserved for the screw-on caps. Each pot is also accompanied by a tiny plastic spatula so conditions are kept nice and sterile. The pots come in little black boxes adorned with gold lettering so even before you get to the pot, the overall aesthetic is the height of luxury.

Emile Cordon’s products are made in the USA and feature ingredients such as almond oil, kukui nut oil, vitamin E, castor seed oil, almond oil, olive leaf oil and beeswax.

I’d give any of these pots as gifts especially for bridesmaids/bridal shower, expecting Mums, or to cheer up a friend who’s having a difficult time.
