After last week’s post featuring all the mini skincare and makeup items, this time the focus is on the ultra-premium Net-a-Porter Summer in the City Beauty Kit. Net-a-Porter is the pioneering and premier online retailer that stocks designer clothing, shoes, accessories and cosmetics. Side-note though, catch them during their sales which include cosmetics and you’re likely to score some sweet finds at drastically reduced prices. But back to this summer’s kit which is nothing short of stellar. Featuring twelve products from a mixture of niche and luxe brands, this kit covers all your grooming needs from cleanser to eye masks to anti-pollution skincare. Also included with the set is a black leather zippered bag that’s ideal for when you’re on the move. So in no order, here are the products:
Tan-Luxe The Butter Illuminating Tanning Butter is a self-tanning lotion that can be worn overnight or left on for six hours for the tan to develop. While I’m the last person in need of a self-tanner, when I’ve used them in the past the result is that they help to even out the look of deeper skin tones and some even leave a nice glow. So I’ll be using this on my arms and legs for the season, especially for outdoors occasions. Otherwise, Tan-Luxe is known for its premium products.
Erno Laszlo Multi-Task Eye Serum Mask is right up my alley as I need all the help for my eye area. The box contains six eye mask pairs and the formula contains vitamin B3, glycerine and gotu kola (centella asiatica) which acts as an anti-inflammatory. The instructions state that the eye serum masks are even better enjoyed when left in the fridge before using. I’m excited to try these especially because I’ve had Erno Laszlo on my radar for years now.
Dr. Barbara Sturm Anti-Pollution Drops is one of the ‘rolls-royce’ products in Net-a-Porter’s Summer In The City Beauty Kit. This is a serum designed to combat the effects of pollution and the blue light coming from all the screens in our lives. It contains marine derivatives along with cocoa seed extracts to help push back against all the environmental skin stressors floating around. Plus, the serum is meant to strengthen the skin’s barrier function. This is a serum I am really excited to use so look out for a full review in future.
Agent Nateur Holi (Stick) N3 Deodorant: I have to begin by saying I’ve used one of Agent Nateur’s Deodorants in the past and my feelings about it were quite mixed. While I appreciate that it’s a natural brand using quality natural ingredients when it comes to antiperspirants, I feel more comfortable with a product that works really hard; see what I rely on [here]. So I appreciate the value that including the Holi (Stick) provides, but I think I’ll be using this when I’m staying closer to home.
Now to the cleanser, specifically Lixirskin Electrogel Cleanser. I’ve seen this brand floating around on Instagram a lot and usually, that makes me run in the opposite direction. But I do have to say that I appreciate it’s part of the beauty kit so that I can figure out if there’s really anything innovative about its performance. Although the name includes the word gel, I’ve tried it once so far and it’s actually a creamy cleanser. The formula relies on ‘negatively charged ions to attract the positively charged ions found in dirt and pollution’. Essentially, it means that removing grime and whatever is on your face at day’s end will be more thoroughly removed. We shall see..
Net-a-Porter Summer in the City Beauty Kit thankfully includes a product I’ve used before, completely loved and am happy to have again; the De Mamiel Dewy Facial Mist. This mist is calming, includes a blend of hyaluronic acid and cucumber and leaves the most lovely glow on your skin. It can certainly stand in as a daily serum by spritzing it on then patting it into your skin for the dreamiest, most sensorial experience.
Charlotte Tilbury Brightening Youth Glow also made the cut and I should indicate this is the only product that’s not full-size. Its purpose is to blur imperfections, calm redness if that’s a concern and to leave your skin with a glow. With it being sample size, it’s perfect for travel.
Indie-Lee Lip Treat (above). I tried this one afternoon after I received it, put some on before bed then woke up the next morning and full-disclosure, I was able to remove every last bit of skin that didn’t belong with complete ease using a damp muslin cloth. Once I’ve used this for a longer period, I’ll follow up with more thoughts but so far, so good.
Christophe Robin is a hair care line that I am completely into. I’m currently using the brand’s Cleansing Volumising Paste with Rassoul and Rose Extracts as my shampoo, so having the chance to use the Moisturizing Hair Cream is like having an early Christmas in a tube.
Another brand I adore is Natura Bissé. With its roots hailing from Spain, many of their products are best-sellers and the new product I have the pleasure of trying is the Diamond Cocoon Ultimate Shield. It’s another item to use in the fight against pollution’s effects on the skin and to push back against the impact of blue light from all the screens. A major plus is that it may also counteract the impact of air conditioning and heat so this will be a fun experiment especially since it can be used indoors and outdoors.
Last two products now, and they are Omorovicza Elemental Emulsion and David Mallet Fresh Eau de Concombre. Omorovicza’s emulsion is an oil-free lotion designed for warmer temperatures. Your skin will benefit from the hyaluronic acid and I can tell you the texture is indeed light and fast absorbing. I’ve always appreciated Omorovicza’s summer serums so I expect to get quite a bit of use from this.
And rounding out the Net-a-Porter Summer in The City Beauty Kit is a product from French brand David Mallet. Specifically, Fresh Eau de Concombre is a double-duty product for hair and skin to maintain hydration while also offering protection against UV and pollution. With cucumber as its central ingredient, this can be used at any time during the day. I think this will be ideal to toss into your beach bag or picnic bag or road trip bag.
This is an epic, high-value beauty kit that will absolutely satisfy your skin care needs for this season and quite possibly beyond that. Naturally, as I work my way through all of these items I’ll be serving up full posts on the winners, losers and also-rans. However, I suspect reports on any losers may be thin. So until then, have an absolutely phenomenal summer, stay safe and I hope this helps.
